Women's History Month is an annual observance that highlights the contributions of women to events in history and contemporary society. Celebrated during March in the United States, it corresponds with International Women's Day on March 8.

On Wednesday, January 29, more than 75 members of the CMU community gathered at Hunt Library to celebrate the first day of the Lunar New Year. Attendees kicked off the Year of the Snake with traditional Lunar New Year activities, including fortune telling, Chinese zodiac animal hand puppets, origami, and enjoying dumplings and other treats. Everyone who attended also received a lucky red envelope, which symbolizes good luck and prosperity.

February is Black History month, where the focus is on the experiences and history of African Americans, both as a whole and as individuals. Celebrating a rich cultural heritage, it is an opportunity to spotlight the achievements that African Americans have accomplished in this country, despite the long and continuing history of racism and oppression.
