October is LGBTQ+ History Month, a time to recognize the individuals, events, and movements that have shaped the ongoing pursuit of equality and visibility for the LGBTQ+ community. Established in 1994, the observance highlights the historical contributions of LGBTQ+ people, honors those who have advanced civil rights, and encourages continued reflection on identity, inclusion, and justice.

Discover & Discuss: National Hispanic Heritage Month

September marks the beginning of National Hispanic Heritage Month, a time to recognize the rich and diverse histories, cultures, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities in the United States. While the term "Hispanic" often refers to Spanish-language heritage, and "Latino" to cultural and ancestral ties to Latin America and the Caribbean, both identities are honored during this celebration.

Lunar New Year Celebration Photo Gallery

On Wednesday, January 29, more than 75 members of the CMU community gathered at Hunt Library to celebrate the first day of the Lunar New Year. Attendees kicked off the Year of the Snake with traditional Lunar New Year activities, including fortune telling, Chinese zodiac animal hand puppets, origami, and enjoying dumplings and other treats. Everyone who attended also received a lucky red envelope, which symbolizes good luck and prosperity.

Discover & Discuss - February 2025: Black History Month

February is Black History month, where the focus is on the experiences and history of African Americans, both as a whole and as individuals. Celebrating a rich cultural heritage, it is an opportunity to spotlight the achievements that African Americans have accomplished in this country, despite the long and continuing history of racism and oppression. Enjoy these ebooks and streaming films and be sure to check out the rotating display of physical books and videos in the main lobby of Hunt Library!
