APC Fund
The Libraries maintains the Article Processing Charge (APC) Fund to partially cover the cost of open access for CMU researchers publishing in fully open journals not covered by the existing publisher agreements.
arXiv
We are a supporting member of arXiv, the world’s largest open access preprint server for research in physics, mathematics, computer science, and related disciplines. Carnegie Mellon University consistently ranks among the top institutions in terms of arXiv usage worldwide.
Bitergia
The Open Source Programs Office (OSPO) provides access to Bitergia, a platform that provides analytics tools that allow CMU teams to gain new insights into their open source software development efforts.
CURIOSS
CURIOSS is a Community for University and Research Institution OSPOs. Our goals are to provide support and to build the collective capacity of members who are creating, managing and sustaining Open Source Program Offices in universities and research institutions around the world.
DataCite
We are a member of DataCite, a non-profit organization that provides persistent identifiers (DOIs) for datasets and other scholarly digital outputs to make them more discoverable, citable, and reusable. Records in our institutional repository, KiltHub, are assigned a DataCite DOI upon publication.
Data Curation Network
As sustaining members of the Data Curation Network, we help support the publishing of high quality data in an ethical and FAIR way by contributing curator expertise, financial support, and participation in DCN’s governance.
HELIOS Open
We have representation on the Open Advisory Committee of HELIOS Open, The Higher Education Leadership Initiative for Open Scholarship, a cohort of colleges and universities committed to collective action to advance open scholarship within and across their campuses.
Janeway
Janeway is an open source journal publishing platform with extensive manuscript-management tools. Hosted by the Library Publishing Service, Janeway-based websites also serve as the public face for these journals, where readers can access and share articles.
KiltHub
We provide free infrastructure and support for data and research sharing with our institutional repository, KiltHub. Hosted on the figshare platform, KiltHub meets the data sharing requirements from journals and funders as an approved repository and provides open access to a variety of CMU scholarship, including theses, technical reports, and undergraduate capstone projects.
LabArchives
We provide an institutional licence for LabArchives, an electronic research notebook, which promotes robust data management practices for researchers and students in research methods courses.
Library Publishing Coalition
We are members of the Library Publishing Coalition, a network of academic and research libraries engaged in scholarly publishing with a commitment to openness and collaboration.
Manifold
Manifold is an open source publishing platform with features for annotation and collaboration. Hosted through our membership with the OEN, Manifold provides an interactive interface for open access monographs and open education resources.
Network of the National Library of Medicine
We are members of the Network of the National Library of Medicine (NNLM). The goal of the NNLM is to advance the progress of medicine and improve public health by providing U.S. health and library professionals with equal and improved access to biomedical information.
Open Education Network
We are a member of the Open Education Network, a community committed to supporting the use of open educational resources in higher education.
Open Science Framework
As an OSF Institutions member, we provide premium access to Open Science Framework (OSF), a digital project management and collaboration tool, for our campus community. Public scholarship on Open Science Framework from CMU community members can be explored on a dedicated CMU OSF dashboard. Open Science Framework is maintained by the non-profit organization, The Center for Open Science.
ORCiD
We are a member organization of the non-profit ORCiD which provides researchers with a persistent digital identifier, known as an ORCiD iD, to distinguish them from others throughout their scholarly career. Through the ORCiD @ CMU campaign, CMU community members can create an ORCiD iD and link it (or an existing ORCiD iD) to their Andrew ID.

We provide an institutional licence for protocols.io, a tool for documenting, organizing, and sharing step-by-step methods and protocols.
PsyArXiv
We are a supporting member of PsyArXiv Preprints and hold a seat on the Member Advisory Board. PsyArXiv is the leading open access preprint server for research in psychology and cognitive neuroscience.

Scarf
The Open Source Programs Office (OSPO) provides access to Scarf, a powerful analytics platform for exploring the downstream usage and adoption of open source software packages, websites, and documentation.
SCOAP3
We are a supporting partner of SCOAP3, the Sponsoring Consortium for Open Access Publishing in Particle Physics. SCOAP3 has converted key journals and textbooks to open access and supports OA publishing in these journals at no cost for authors.
