In 1985, Tim earned a bachelor's degree in Information Systems from CMU. He learned from professors across various parts of CMU including what is now Dietrich College, Heinz College, School of Computer Science, College of Fine Arts, and Tepper School of Business.
CMU's multidisciplinary education approach has influenced Tim's career. He started as a management consultant at Price Waterhouse focused on both the public and private sectors. He then advanced to became a senior global marketing director at PwC. He led a global team that worked with organization in the education, non-profit, healthcare, public services, and other sectors.
Later, Tim shifted to the tech industry, helping major software companies and top consumer brands enhance their market and digital presence. He worked on marketing and product strategies as well as digital strategies and app designs based on extensive market and user research. His efforts touch millions of users and fans of companies like ADP, Manchester United Football Club, and Stanley Black & Decker. He even designed an app for a consortium of the largest college text book publishers.
Tim is a dedicated CMU alumni leader. He served as president of the Andrew Carnegie Society which supports the university's fundraising efforts and relationships with major donors. He was a member of the university's Board of Trustees, serving on the Advancement Committee. He also served on the Alumni Association Board twice. He has served as president of the alumni networks in the Atlanta, Chicago, and Washington, DC.
Currently, Tim is focusing on overcoming the fragmented network of STEM/STEAM education programs. He continues to serve consulting clients as a partner and co-founder of Heron Collaborative.
