With nearly 20 years worth of library experience, I am interested in the way people use technology to enhance their data, so in my current position here at CMU, I am available to help library staff and faculty in their work by helping them to understand data documentation and management to make data more accessible and understandable. I aim to provide consultation services to data managers on data sharing and discovery strategies, including introducing best practices, selection of appropriate metadata standards and schemas, workflows for metadata creation and cleanup. My goals are to collaborate on the development of long-term solutions for improved metadata management and interoperability. By Monitoring and contributing to local, national, and international forums on metadata standards and policies I aim to provide up to date information to help to better the metadata needs of the University Library. Collaborating with colleagues I help to initiate and provide continuing education to library staff regarding linked data, resource description, controlled vocabulary and metadata management. I am available for consultation via appointment.
