Workshops & Training

Level Up Your Research, Teaching,
and Tech Skills with CMU Libraries Workshops

Want to sharpen your coding, data, or research skills without adding another course to your schedule? Curious about tools for text and data analysis, AI literacy, GIS, or publishing your work? Each semester, the Libraries offer free, practical workshops designed to give you the skills you can put to use right away in your classes, labs, and projects.

Our sessions range from beginner-friendly introductions (R, Python, data visualization, citation managers) to deeper dives into specialized methods (geospatial mapping, computational text analysis, open science workflows). They’re a quick way to:

  • Learn a new tool or technique in under 90 minutes.
  • Build skills that translate across disciplines and industries.
  • Get hands-on guidance from librarians who are also researchers and technologists.
  • Connect with peers from across CMU working on similar problems.

All workshops are free and open to anyone in the CMU community. Space is limited, so registration is required.

Can’t make a session or need something more tailored? Contact us for a one-on-one consultation, or invite a librarian to tailor a workshop for your class, lab, or research group.
