We've reached February, which means that it is again time for Love Data Week! Happening entirely virtual from February 8th - 12th, we're offering a host of awesome data-themed activities during Love Data Week to help you learn how to care for your research data and develop enthusiasm for all things data! All our events follow the theme of 'Exploring your Relationship with Data' and includes workshops, online activities (including a fun Star Trek activity!), custom emojis, and downloadable custom designs in Animal Crossing: New Horizons! So, sit back, relax, and explore all the fun events we have planned for you:

First up, let's talk about workshops! While we have a whole semester of wonderful workshops lined up, we have 4 which are being held during Love Data Week and aimed at increasing your data skills from several angles. Attend at least one to get a badge to upload to LinkedIn, your personal website, etc. to show off your new skills! Each workshop title below has a clickable link which will take you to the registration page:

- Monday, February 8th: Data Visualization Recommended Practices, 12:00pm - 1:00pm

- Wednesday, February 10th: Cleaning Untidy Data with OpenRefine, 12:00pm - 1:30pm

- Thursday, February 11th: Data Management for Qualitative Data, 12:00pm - 1:00pm

- Friday, February 12th: Using LabArchives to Manage Your Research, 2:00pm - 3:00pm (Note: this one has a slightly different registration process. At this link, you will register for the workshop and receive a Zoom link directly from Linda Cubias of LabArchives shortly thereafter. We recommend registering early!)

Next, we have two online activities that encourage you to explore the data resources we have at CMU Libraries as well as expand your skills in identifying metadata, which is contextual information about data. The first is an online scavenger hunt which will have you explore the CMU Libraries website and answer questions about our data services! The second is an online activity featuring the character Data from Star Trek and asks you to identify all the sources of metadata within a photograph of Data. If you complete one or both of the activities, you will receive a custom Love Data Week emoji that you can upload to Slack or Discord!

Finally, we have a bunch of downloadable Love Data Week custom designs available in Animal Crossing: New Horizons! This game has been a very popular activity since the pandemic started, and we wanted to create a fun way for those playing the game to engage with Love Data Week at CMU Libraries. To accompany our custom design from last year's Tartan Datascapes on metadata in the game, we've got two new clothing designs available in the game! Below, you can see the information for downloading each, as well as videos with my own avatar in the game modeling the clothes to my adoring audience (i.e. my villagers who had no choice otherwise).
