Andrew Perlman

Andy Perlman joined the IDeATe team in May 2025. He previously worked for the Carnegie Mellon University Libraries from 2001 to 2019, during which time he spent time on the Arts Library and Access Services teams. After leaving CMU in 2019, he lived abroad for five years in Taiwan, where he taught English and served as a writer and editor of English-language teaching materials.

Andy holds a B.A. in Art History (‘01) from University of Cincinnati and an M.A. in Applied Second Language Acquisition (‘16) from Carnegie Mellon University. Beyond these credentials, he brings a lifetime of tinkering and dabbling, recording “music,” making “art,” and learning languages to the job.

Andy can be found “ideating” things and dropping dad jokes around the IDeATe facilities, most commonly the Lending Office, on evenings and weekends throughout the academic year.
