Members of the wider Pittsburgh community can be an integral part of the research process for numerous disciplines, offering specific expertise and valuable perspectives that shape studies and expand impacts. More than 400 people visited Hunt Library during Homecoming weekend for an event co-hosted by IDeATe and the University Archives as part of the 125th Anniversary campus celebration. IDeATe’s “Beyond the Intersection of Art and Technology, ” showcased student projects that explore novel physical computing devices, computational weavings, dynamic gaming worlds, and experimental animations & sounds.

BRAC University Joins Open Forum for AI, Expanding Global Participation in Responsible AI Development

BRAC University has joined Open Forum for AI (OFAI), an international initiative focused on advancing human-centered and ethical approaches to artificial intelligence (AI). Launched at Carnegie Mellon University in 2024, OFAI brings together academic institutions and nonprofit organizations to support collaborative, transparent, and inclusive AI development. The coalition emphasizes an open approach, multi-stakeholder engagement, and public interest values in AI strategy and governance.

Carnegie Mellon University Libraries is offering Ph.D. students an exciting opportunity to showcase their research in an internationally recognized competition. CMU doctoral candidates of every level can register to participate in the 2026 Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition for the chance to gain early career recognition, connect with the campus community, and win prizes of up to $3,000.

“Hands On: Halloween Harvest” Photo Gallery

On October 29, the Libraries celebrated spooky season and the start of sweater weather with a fall installment of the new “Hands-On” series. More than 50 attendees joined for a crafternoon of autumnal activities, including pumpkin painting, ghostly garland making, and creating seasonal suncatchers. They also had the opportunity to indulge in some culinary classics like apple cider, Halloween candy, and a build-your-own dirt cup bar.
