Welcome, Adrianna Bennett, Science Libraries Circulation Manager

Adrianna Bennett

Please join us in welcoming Adrianna Bennett to the Carnegie Mellon University Libraries as the new Science Libraries Circulation Manager. Prior to joining the Libraries, Adrianna was a Resource Sharing Specialist at the University of Pittsburgh.

We asked Adrianna, who uses she/her/hers pronouns, a few questions about herself and her plans for her new role.

What are your goals for this year as our new Science Libraries Circulation Manager?
This first year I want to get a feel for how things work here at CMU and the Libraries. Before you can think about changing things or adding new things you need an understanding of how things currently work and from there you can assess the strengths and challenges. Then your team can move forward to make things better.

How has your prior experience prepared you for this role at the Carnegie Mellon University Libraries?
Before my brief stay at U of Pitt in InterLibrary Loans, I was a Circulation Specialist - Night Supervisor. This role required the hiring and continued training of 8-12 student employees and assisting in running things at the circulation desk. From cataloging equipment to changing fire alarm batteries, to helping patrons at the desk, my role there turned me into a well-rounded library employee. I can’t wait to use everything I’ve learned at all my past jobs to add to the CMU community.

What projects are you excited to tackle in your first few months?
No projects specifically, but getting to know the full time and student staff. I want to know what they do and what they like about their jobs, maybe see if there is anything I can do for them right away.

What do you like to do outside of work?
Reading, video games, playing with my pups, movie nights with friends…Whatever doesn’t require me to change out of a onesie all weekend is good.
