NIH announces Figshare Data Repository
Recently announced, Figshare and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) are piloting the launch of a new generalist data repository for NIH-funded researchers to be known as nih.figshare.com. 

Cengage-McGraw Hill Merger Q&A from SPARC 
On May 01, education publishers Cengage and McGraw Hill announced plans to merge. This "Question and Answers" article from the Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition (SPARC) provides answers to common questions and updates to what is being done to stop the merger.

Viewing Party for OCLC Forum, 'Open Access Tipping Point Public Forum'
On Thursday, August 29 from 2:00pm - 4:00pm, the University of California (UC) will be hosting an 'Open Access Tipping Point Public Forum' in Washington, DC. The forum will be live-streamed and we will be hosting a viewing party in the Sorrells Library Den. The forum is intended to advance understanding of the value and opportunities associated with negotiating, participating in, and supporting transformative open access agreements for all stakeholders in the scholarly publishing community – including publishers, societies, funders, libraries, and academic authors. Fall Campus Rollouts of Elements
This fall Elements is tentatively scheduled to be rolled out to the College of Engineering and CMU-Qatar. More information about Elements, rollouts, and potential spring plans will be presented at the August Unilib Meeting by David and Jason.
