Watch Dean of Libraries, Keith Webster, and Executive Director, Coalition for Networked Information, Clifford Lynch discuss the evolution and future of the scholarly record and its curation.
A Conversation with Clifford Lynch (Recording of Feb. 9, 2016 event).
Description:
Over the last few years we have witnessed several changes within scholarly communication. The way in which research is prepared, conducted, and disseminated has evolved to meet the needs of today, but what role may libraries and institutions have within this changing environment of the scholarly record?
Discussion topics include:
- Research Preparation: the policy framework, funding trends for research infrastructure, data management policies, and data management planning.
- The Conduct of Research: the socialization of science – including open science, blogging and other social media, citizen science, the networking of services like electronic lab notebooks, and cyberinfrastructure.
- The Outcomes of Research: open access, repositories, preservation and curation – especially of non-textual objects including software.
